Summary
| Description | The common big sagebrush in northern Arizona appears to by Wyoming big sagebrush as evinced by the multiple stems arising from ground level, the rounded and generally compact growth form where inflorescences arise from all around the canopy. The often large stature may be an artifact of big sagebrush moving from an open canopy habitat to a completely open setting after tree removal efforts. That is, big sagebrush is enjoying the deep rich soils that would otherwise be occupied by trees if humans had not intervened. |
