Néá'eshe edit

Good day, first of all, thank you for contacting me. I didn't go through your contributions on this Wiki yet, because I'm having troubles with my Internet connection right now and it's very very slow. However, I think you also asked a question about the main page. After looking at the Cheyenne Wikipedia Main Page, I think it needs some work since I don't see the point of having a list of red links on a main page. Those should be on a sub-page for coordination between contributors. You can give a look to the Cree main page here and we can work to make something similar here. What do you think ? Amqui (talk) 04:01, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Don't forget to include interwikis in Categories also. Amqui (talk) 05:03, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Advices and hints edit

Nice to hear from you again. Just one thing you need to remember from what I saw in your contributions so far : here, it's an encyclopedia, not a dictionary, so phrases examples and stuff alike are not really pertinent. I also made the Nouns and Phrases categories being deleted if you didn't see it yet. If you have any question regarding this, feel free to use my talk page. Néá'eshe, Amqui (talk) 00:02, 10 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is only a quick hint for interwikis: you only need to add one, a bot will come to add the others. We usually use the English one, as it's the easiest. For categories, give a look at this edit: [1]. If you don't understand what I did, please ask on my Talk Page. Amqui (talk) 03:07, 10 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Good new articles ! Just don't forget to include the {{DEFAULTSORT: }} with the categories especially with those articles with full of different accents. Amqui (talk) 03:13, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the help, and the explanations! Djembayz (talk)

I just changed the Main Page. I made that pretty quickly, feel free to add anything. If you are looking at anything that was there before, I moved it to User:Amqui/Main Page backup. Amqui (talk) 04:09, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Give a look at that edit. The goal of the DEFAULTSORT is to allow the categories to sort the articles by alphabetical order despite the fact they are including characters such as é which is understand by the computer as a different letter than e. Therefore, you need to rewrite the title of the article in the DEFAULTSORT without all his accents and apostrophes. Don't hesitate if you have any questions about that or anything else. Néá'eshe, Amqui (talk) 02:37, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I would remove the apostrophes as well since they are not like English apostrophes, but really a sign like accents in Cheyenne language. That's what we do on other similar languages anyway. Amqui (talk) 03:03, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Good day again, great job with your new articles ! I have a quick hint again, see this edit. You need to make sure that interwikis are always the last thing on the page, after categories, after DEFAULTSORT, after everything. If you have any questions, don't hesitate. Amqui (talk) 19:17, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

It's me again. See that edit. We only use bold for the first mention of the subject of the page in the introduction. Amqui (talk) 20:43, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Néá'eshe, I'll use regular text from now on. (Was trying to make it stand out a little more). Glad to have some help on all of this. Djembayz (talk) 20:46, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

See this edit: [2]. Galleries are useful when you need to put several pictures like that on an article with not a whole lot of text. Amqui (talk) 12:02, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Also see that edit: [3]. Maximize the use of internal links between the pages. That's avoid having orphaned pages and maximize the views they may get. Amqui (talk) 12:05, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

You forgot interwikis in the articles you created today. Amqui (talk) 00:59, 25 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Tâhpeno / Native American flute edit

Hello Djembayz. Thank you for adding the Cheyanne article on Tâhpeno / Native American flute. I have a large external site on the Native American flute (flutopedia.com). Among other things, it lists all the various names by which the instrument is known. Would it be appropriate to add the name Tâhpeno to that page? ClintGoss (talk) 09:56, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello Clint, lovely website! The term Tâhpeno comes from http://www.cdkc.edu/cheyennedictionary/index-english/main.htm. Joseph Fire Crow is a Cheyenne flutist who would know more about all of this than me. I'm just putting up basic information, terms with photos, so that a native speaker can add text or sound files later. Djembayz (talk) 11:58, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Djembayz! That's exactly what I needed ... Yes, I know Joseph ... he's about 50 miles from where we live ... ClintGoss (talk) 19:11, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
If you can get a photo of him for Commons, I can add it to his article. Djembayz (talk) 19:16, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Google's Endangered Languages Project edit

Good day, I'm not sure if you know of the project in the title (if not just Google it since it's a Google project). I was finally able to contact them to see if there is a possible cooperation between them and us working on Wikipedia (and the Incubator) for the Native American Languages. If you have any suggestions, ideas, things we should offer or ask, please let me know. Amqui (talk) 22:26, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Good day edit

Good day, I saw that you added your name to the Canadian Aboriginal Languages Wikipedia Coordination, welcome ! I remember you asked me about extending the scope of that project to the USA, but we are discussing to get something better in place, an international organization for the promotion of indigenous languages called Wikimedia Indigenous Languages. I'd like to invite you to discussion, you can see the stub for the project there [4]. Please bring your ideas and suggestions, and we will soon have a mailing list for discussion. Thanks, Amqui (talk) 02:11, 26 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello. edit

I am very interested in the native American languages, but I do not know if it is possible to find people who can speak them. Can you speak the Cheyenne language at least a bit? TweekTheDragoon (talk) 20:13, 1 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
